Or should I say I went back to it when newer versions created more problems with my ancient hardware. Over-all it’s an okay version, with only a few minor quirks which are not so noticeable since my machine started suffering from Random Neural Firing – having the thing fail to start/stop or jam completely while being used is far more annoying than not being able to drive my printer (which is the biggest fault with the OS).
There are times I feel like stepping back to Linux Lite since all the newer ‘features’ don’t seem to afford me any advantage in operation.

Corporate, not made for any end user. And I discovered the RPM hell at that time, trying to set up Ximian Gnome as it was called then, and none of its circular dpendencies were handled by RPM. So I quickly gave up on that and discovered real nice package management in the BSDs. Then I built my own Gentoo, until a young colleague from Austria – the youngest we’ve had at that time in Bremen (where later our daughter was born) – recommended to try Debian.
The rest is history, as they say. I almost became a Debian developer myself, but money earning and corporate got in the way once more…
For now, I dual boot between Debian stable and Arch, and on the latter I try all the new stuff like pipewire (for “serious” music making). Fun times… and yes, good that we have choices.
