Good points, and I agree about kit lasting. That was a point I was trying to make as well, but missed it a bit. The fact kit lasts as long as it does is one reason I don’t need to replace it nearly as often as Apple would like me to :)

In 2016, I gave my 2011 MacBook Air to my sister. It’s still going strong. I recently picked up an iPhone 7, from eBay, to stick the corporate SIM into. It works great. I might pick up another for the big fat China holiday (they tend to have broader compatibility with the Chinese 4G networks than anything else bought outside of China). The cost of an iPhone 7 from U.K. eBay? £170 with the risk of having to also fork out for a replacement battery.
