Wow. Amazing how a change in environment can be so powerful. Up here they wouldn’t last a year. But then it is hard to get anything to grow here with our severe climate extremes.

While trumpet vine is native to the southeast US, it’s like kudzu with flowers. I’ve had to pull it out of our yard twice while living here. If left unchecked, it will overrun everything and nearly kill other flowers in the garden. I pulled a forty foot creeper out of one of my trees this past winter, that was as thick as a rake handle at the base where I first found it. And I’m still pulling out seedlings it dropped from last growing season. There are better native flowers to attract hummingbirds.
