valentine’s caturday

The eyes of Joan are upon you.

This coming Monday, February 14th, is Valentine’s Day. Instead of a card or diabetes-inducing sugared candies, here’s some sweet (sugar-free) cats for a Caturday before Valentines. I also feel it’s better to contemplate the cats rather than if Russia is going to invade the Ukraine next week. Or how many unvaccinated are going to die from COVID-19.

Nicholas Joseph Purry is still in the manic kitten stage of his life. He’s not quite seven months old yet, but he’s already at 8.4 lbs, twice what he weighed when he came home with us from The Runaways Animal Rescue ( https://www.runawaysanimalrescue.org/ ). I tried to include him in yesterday’s Caturday edition so that I could have a grand slam of Gingers as it were, but he is a blur of motion in both real life as well as my camera and so I came away with nothing but a lot of blurry Nick photos. Today was a bit better for photographing Mr. Madcap. I was able to capture him at certain still moments with my camera. Even then I was left with many a blurred photo as he’s constantly active and fast.

I do have to admit I like the look of him in his bow tie. It makes a cute little guy look even cuter.

Here’s a moment of deceptive sweet calm. When I tripped the ultra-quiet shutter on the E-M1.2 to capture this photo, he was immediately awake and checking out the sound.

He might have just one eye, but there’s nothing wrong with both his ears.
