There is an old warbird, an F-4 Phantom II with tail number 747, sitting silent over Kittinger Park next to the Orlando Executive Airport. It’s been there for a while now, probably at least a year. It’s a counterpoint to the B-52 parked outside of Orlando International Airport (OIA), harkening back to the time when OIA was McCoy Air Force Base (which is why the airport code for OIA is MCO).

Kittinger Park and the F-4 are a Vietnam memorial, dedicated to all the central Floridians who served there, especially to the 350 who lost their lives there. I remember building this as a plastic model kit when I was in middle school.

I used the Olympus Key Line art filter and tweaked the saturation and vibrance in Lightroom 5.7. I wanted something minimalistic as apposed to unrelentingly realistic. I think this kind of treatment conveys the essence of the old warbird, reminding me of some old abstract paintings of this aircraft I saw in a magazine I’ve long since forgotten, back in the late 1960s. About the time I was finishing middle school.

Of all the Olympus art filters I like this one the best.
