surprise! amazon re-instates my deepracer order

Two days after receiving Amazon’s cancelation of my DeepRacer order, Amazon sent me another email:

We’re contacting you about order # for the following item:

AWS DeepRacer – Fully autonomous 1/18th scale race car for developers

Your pre-order was unintentionally canceled due to an error on our part. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused. We have reinstated your order, and you will receive an AWS DeepRacer when the devices are ready to ship later this Fall.

Sincerely,

Customer Service

OK. All I can do now is wait. At least they have owned this error on their part. I should be thankful, but at this point I’ve developed a rather fatalistic attitude that I’ll ever see this order.

amazon cancels my deepracer order

I’m not surprised that it happened. It lowers even further my general low opinion of Amazon. I got my cancellation email today. Here’s what it said:

Due to a lack of availability, we will not be able to obtain the following item from your order. We’ve canceled the item and apologize for the inconvenience. If you see a charge for the canceled item, we will refund you within 1-2 business days. If you are still interested in purchasing this item, it may be available from other sellers. Please visit the detail page for this item below.

I won’t try to reorder it. I’m done following this from Amazon, both from a technological and a consumer point of view.
