The Mac Mini late 2012 now has an official system name: irongiant. I gave it that name after finding the figurine you see above while cleaning up one of the bedrooms. I sat him on top of the Mini until it dawned on me that his name would be the perfect name for the Mini. Something about the dent in his head matching the tiny scratch on the Mini’s case cinched it (this Mini was a refurb from Apple).

So he sits, pride of place, on top of the Mini. And constantly greats me.

If you’re curious the movie The Iron Giant was Brad Bird’s first outing as director. He went on to direct another favorite of mine, Pixar’s “The Incredibles,” for which he got his first Academy award.
