Over the past few days the Software Updater has this added text on its dialog: “You can use Livepatch with Ubuntu Pro to keep your computer more secure between restarts.” Which I find funny considering this is on my Raspberry Pi 5. I might try out the free tier for my Raspberry Pi, but I really don’t think I want to. I tried to follow Canonical’s instructions for disabling Livepatch here https://ubuntu.com/security/livepatch/docs/livepatch/how-to/disable but discovered it doesn’t work. I have no idea how it’s triggered but it would appear that something changed with Ubuntu 24.04 and the documentation wasn’t updated. I did not see the Livepatch ad when running Ubuntu 23.10.
I also discovered that I can’t remove Firefox snap and install the Firefox deb package. None of the instructions for removing the Firefox snap package on Ubuntu 23.10 and earlier, work. Firefox is my preferred Linux browser, but not as a snap package.
