One of the benefits of using Powerline with Bash to modify the command prompt is when I use a shell within another application, in this case Visual Studio Code version 1.70.0. It’s a full blown shell that allows me to do anything I would want to do within an external Gnome terminal. VSCode might not be perfect, and many may consider it tainted because it came from Microsoft, but the developer community has embraced it everywhere and on every platform, and with the exception of some cases totally dependent upon specific features unique to an OS, VSCode works the same everywhere.
I love working on, and with, Linux. It works for me and that’s really all that matters.
